Vbeam Pulsed Dye Laser Treatment – The day of the Treatment – 5-18-11
Day of Hi. Well, I did it! The videos that I’ve seen on Youtube show that it does not hurt. The people getting the laser treatment don’t even flinch! Some say that their bruises went away in a couple of days…I’m sure mine won’t! I counted each laser “zap” and there were 106. I only counted to distract myself. She lasered some of the veins and red spots twice, and some are in clusters, so you won’t see 106 bruises. Each one felt like a bee sting or the snap of a rubber band, but the blessing is that a second later, the sting was gone. At least there is no pain now. I only remember I had it done when I look in the mirror. My husband has nicknamed me “Leorpard Lady”…nice guy!!! LOL My dermatologist says it will take at least 2 weeks for the bruising to be gone. No biggy. Life goes on. There are settings that the laser has that allows the patient to choose a lesser effective treatment, less sting during the treatment and less bruising, thereby possibly needing many treatments. The upside is that the bruises that do show up are gone in a day or 2. The other option is that they can choose a more aggressive treatment, which results in more bruising, more sting during the procedure and longer healing time. I opted for the more aggressive, thereby giving me quicker results, more stinging and lotsa purple bruises! BUT…I won’t have as many treatments…just 2. There are also choices in between those 2 examples. If this series of videos is being helpful, please let me know by …

Are These Spider Veins?
I cannot express the extreme displeasure I feel right now. I’ve recently started getting these little, reddish violet veins on the side of my thigh, and on my knee (!) They’re less than an inch long, and they’re almost perfectly straight. They’re fairly far apart and hurt when you poke them. Upon closer inspection, I have little outlines of those same veins ALL. OVER. MY. LEGS. I thought they were fading away, but now I can’t tell. Everyone I’ve asked says they don’t look like spider veins.
I really don’t care what they are. I want them gone. This is extremely embarrasing, and I feel so hideous. Volleyball season is about to start, and these little satans will be extremely visible. I doubt I’ll be able to get any kind of medical treatment for these. Only my older relatives have these. Are they gonna go away?
EDIT: My muscles in my legs have increased in size of late, but not in the areas with the marks.

EDIT: One’s kind of in the shape of a V. They’re very distinct lines.

Are my varicose veins a serious issue?
I used to be morbidly obese, and I lost about 70 pounds over the past two years. As I began losing weight I noticed my veins were sticking out on my legs. At first it wasn’t too noticeable but now I have a very obvious problem. I have bulging veins on the outside of my right leg, on my inner right thigh, and on my outer left thigh. I also have various smaller spider veins and broken veins on other parts of my legs. Sometimes they hurt or itch or just feel uncomfortable. It is also hard for me to stand for very long and I have a hard time at work, where I stand all day.
These veins have been a cause for concern and self esteem issues in me. I went to the Emergency room once because I do not have medical insurance to see a vein specialist, and they said it was because I am still overweight. Which I am. However exercising has become difficult because I am constantly paranoid of making the veins worse.
I have tried support stockings, better shoes, walking, stretching, drinking more water, everything.
I am also concerned because someone told me my femoral artery is located in my inner right thigh. The vein bulging out there is huge, it is sticking out so far that I am afraid I will nick it accidentally.
Is this a serious issue that needs to be addressed right away or can I continue losing weight safely? Also how can I seek medical treatment if I can’t afford it? This is something that has been causing me so much stress and anxiety and I just want to know that it’s not a serious problem.
