Your Questions About Spider Veins On Face

Mandy asks…

Spider veins in face?

I am only 13 and already have two little spider veins on each side of my face. My dad has loads but my mum doesn’t. I really don’t want them to develop into a bigger problem. Can anybody tell me how to prevent them?

rob answers:

Yeah, whatever you do dont pick your spots. Make up hides them to…
Drinking alcohol gives you them aswell. Im a boy. My mom has loads but my dad has a few. Not many though. Its really off putting. I picked a few spots before i new about spider veins. And i have one tiny little mark. I dont even know if its a spider vein yet. Hoping it will go. But yeah. Dont pick your spots. Drink water daily (2 litres) and when summer time is here, put lots n lots of sun tan lotion on. If you burn, you increase your chances of getting spider veins

spider veins on face and legs?

i have a little bit of spider veins on my thighs and legs but i cant stand them and i have little ones around my nose. how can i get rid of them without surgery is there a good lotion or anything? that REALLY works 100%????

rob answers:

Here is some good info on spider veins their causes and treatment. Anything that is a cover up is actually a temporary fix. My sister had lazer done on hers. Unfortunately I still have the ugly suckers on my legs. Mom, grandma and other sister has them too, so guess it was bound to be hereditary.

Daniel asks…

How to get rid of spider veins on the face?

Can anyone suggest a safe, working procedure and include the cost?

rob answers:

The best and safest way is through the use of laser surgery. You’d have to ask the laser surgeon what his cost is, as it would depend upon the severity of the spider veins. Other techniques would include electrolysis or sclerotherapy.

Joseph asks…

I have small spider veins on my face, any help?

My skin is light, very sensitive and lots of tiny spider veins, with make up it looks alot better but just wondering

rob answers:

I just got back from the dermatologist and had saline injections done on my leg. I have very little purple spider veins on different areas of my leg, had them since I was 13!! (hereditary..) :( So finally they were just big enough to get a needle in them. Contact your dermatologist about this and see if the veins are big enough and worth trying the saline injection. It will burn and cramp when you get it done, but it will be worth it! The cost will be about $250 per 15 minute session. It took him about 10 min. To do a small 4 inch area on my leg. But the area will turn reddish purple for 4-6 weeks so be prepared to have something to cover it!! I won’t be wearing shorts for a while now. I’m crossing my fingers the results will be good…I will have to go back and get touch ups though which Im not looking forward to….it kind of hurt!!!! Good luck with yours and ask your dermatologist about your options. It’s cosmetic so your insurance won’t cover this… But I think it’s worth the money.

Maria asks…

Is there anyway of reducing the appearance of spider veins on your face?

Not including surgery or makeup

rob answers:

Im not sure but you should try tanning.

Your Questions About Spider Veins On Nose

Daniel asks…

How do i get rid of spider veins in the creases of my nose?

I have red line veins on the inside creases by where the cheeks meet the nose.
I am wondering if you have this problem and if you know what causes it and how i can possibly get rid of them?

Please help.

rob answers:

Spider veins are enlargements of otherwise invisible blood vessels in the skin that take on a blue or red color. They can be flat or raised, may occur anywhere on the thighs, legs, ankles and feet, and are found in both men and women. Spider veins are the thread-like colored veins most often seen on the surface of the skin. They are most often not as painful as enlarged varicose veins but they are still liable to bleed and worsen without treatment. Spider veins occur most commonly in the legs
but are often seen in the face and elsewhere. These spider veins, medically referred to as telangectasias, will not worsen to the point where they will ever become the large bulging varicose veins
Spider veins and varicose veins are not the same — and one does not lead to the other. Whereas varicose veins are large, swollen and occur singularly on the legs, spider veins are delicate and tend to be come in cliques. They are, however, caused by similar factors.

Exactly what happens in the body to produce spider veins isn’t known for sure, though there are several theories that address possible causes. One theory is that spider veins, which occur near the surface of the skin, are fed by underlying varicose veins too small or embedded too deeply to reach the skin surface. These underlying veins disrupt circulation, causing spider veins to grow above them. Another theory is that spider veins are little arteries that have latched on to the network of veins nearest the skin surface. Because arteries are highly pressurized and the surface veins have low pressure, the combination of the arterial blood (oxygenated blood flowing to the heart) with the venal blood (deoxygenated blood flowing away from the heart) causes spider veins to be visible.

Although the cause of spider veins is not actually known, they may have their basis in heredity or hormones, especially estrogen. Many times spider veins occur together with varicose veins. While many patients seek treatment for cosmetic improvement, others are looking for relief from discomfort. Spider veins are formed by the dilation of the small veins under the surface of the skin, mostly on the legs. They look like red or purple sunbursts or web patterns. Spider veins are also referred to as telangiectasia or broken capillaries. They usually pose no health hazard but may produce a dull aching or burning in the legs after prolonged standing.

Support hose and weight loss are often mentioned as ways to prevent or treat spider veins but do not necessarily improve the condition. The only real treatment for these vessels is to eradicate them. The preferred treatment is injecting a solution into the vein that causes the vein to contract. The process is called sclerotherapy.

Sclerotherapy is almost painless and improves the appearance but it does not prevent new spider veins from developing in the future. While lasers are frequently used to eliminate spider veins on the face, they are generally not as effective as sclerotherapy on veins in the arms and legs. Sclerotherapy is still the best and safest treatment for spider veins. It causes minimal discomfort. A concentrated salt (saline) or specially developed chemical solution is injected with a very small needle into the spider vein. This pickles the inside of the vein so it closes up. It later collapses and becomes scar tissue that eventually is absorbed by the body.

Sclerotherapy generally requires multiple treatment sessions. Post-treatment therapy includes wearing compression bandages or support hose for two days to three weeks following treatment. Although sclerotherapy works for current spider veins, it does not prevent future ones from developing.

There are several ways to treat spider veins on the face. Lasers have been used successfully, alone or in combination with electric needle therapy. The heat from the high intensity laser beam or intense pulsed light device selectively destroys the abnormal veins. It is best for tiny veins in fair skinned people. With the electric needle, the veins are sealed off with the application of electrical current.

I hope his can help

Steven asks…

spider veins on side of nose?!?

My daughter is 13 years old and has spider veins on the side of her nose. Some days its more visible that other days, but when the veins are visible its really noticeable. What is causing her to get these spider veins?

rob answers:

Too much exposure in the sun. Encourage her to wear sunscreen whenever she is outside.

Sandy asks…

Can i still pierce my nose if i have spider veins?

i have these visible veins on the side of my nose. i looked online and it said that it was a spider vein, so im guessing they are spider veins. i want to get my nose pierced, but i have been reading that if you hit a vein, your face can be paralyized or you can go brain dead if you get infected cuz the nose and the brain have some connection. some people say these paralyzations are complete bull shit, and just rumors. and i havent heard of one true story about gettting paralyzed from a nose piercing. sooooo all in all, with the spider veins, can i pierce my nose?

rob answers:

You’d have to go to a piercer and ask them if you can, don’t listen to anyone on here :) good luck!

John asks…

Skin doctors capillary Cream..Spider veins……..?

I use skin doctors “ingrow go” for ingrown hairs around my bikini line. After being left with scars and wasting money on things that didn’t work this was the first product that actually does what it says, it is excellent. So i was wondering if anyone has used their capillary cream and if it is effective? I am only 21 years old but i have small spider veins around my nose and some on my cheeks and i know it isn’t a huge problem but it bugs me as i am so young. If not this product has anyone used anything else which works?

rob answers:

It’s ok, but no better than a vitamin K cream
The Britsh Red Cross runs a skin camouflage treatment service and has centres around the country, used by patients with port wine birth marks, burns, scarring and thread veins.

Laser therapy can be helpful, but specific lasers must be used (e.g Pulsed Dye Laser), and the doctor using laser therapy should be highly experienced in it’s use. Treatment may be painful and can cause bruising to the treated area for 7 to 14 days. In the right hands laser therapy is effective, but treatment is not freely available in all areas of the UK.

Jenny asks…

I have spider veins at age 18?

Hello, I have always had quite fair skin, but now its darker from working outside, and even in this state, it appears that spider veins are encircling my nose and atop it. I have just begun to notice within the last year or so. There are two larger veins around the bottom of the nose, small ones on the top middle, and smallish ones around the entirety of the bottom. My father has them on his nose now…but he’s 60. Im scared, and dont want them to progress at age 18! Help!

rob answers:

Don’t worry! First off Avon makes a product just for spider veins, you just roll it on and they will start to disappear. The cream is about 20-30 dollars. Just go to Avon.com and look under skin care products. You can ask your doctor about other treatments. They could use a laser (painless) and kill off the small veins which meas they would NEVER come back. This might be kind of pricey but worth it! Another cheap fix while you save your pennies is to get heavy concealer for your nose. That way you’ll feel better knowing no one can see them. Everyone has something that they wish they could change, lucky for you its fixable! Good luck!

Maria asks…

Do I have spider veins?

I’ve recently noticed some very fine but visible purple/red veins on my skin – some on my thighs, and a tiny patch on my arm and one on my face. The ones on my arm and face are barely visible most of the time – and the ones on my legs seem to vary in visibility.
I’ve had a look around online about spider veins, and all the pictures I’ve seen look much worse that what I’ve got – mine are very fine, and not raised atall, but I’m very worried that they’ll end up large and raised.
I’m only 17, and I’m not particularly unhealthy although I’m recovering from chronic fatigue syndrome which has prevented me being particularly active.

Do I have spider veins? And what can I do to get rid of them/prevent them from getting any worse?

Thanks!

rob answers:

Yes you do and there is nothing you can do apart from surgery!
They shouldn’t cause you any pain or harm…You just have to love them and live with them I’m afraid!!!
Most people have them…either really small ones on their face or somewhere else on their body! Don’t worry!
You may have seen varicose vains which are raised and don’t look too nice!

Lisa asks…

What caused my spider veins and is this a stretch mark?

I’m 16 and I am a very active person. I dance at least twice a week, I run, I ride my bike, and I’m not at all lazy just an active person. I’m 5′ 5.5″ and i weigh around 120lb (so I have a low BMI). Lately I’ve been noticing what look like stretch marks on my butt (I’m not sure if they’re stretch marks). they’re like little spots, it looks like tiny bruises kind of. I looked at some pictures of stretch marks but mine don’t really look like the pictures. It makes me so frustrated because I exercise all the time! I might be blowing it a little out of proportion considering I have body dismorphia but I still don’t understand why I have these ugly stretch mark like things.

I’ve been noticing my spider veins for the past 2 years or so. I’m not really sure why I have them. they’re just little purple squiggly lines on the outsides of my thighs a little bit and on the insides of my ankles. I used to do ballet a lot so I have muscular legs. My mom has spider veins, and she isn’t fat. I always though people who didn’t exercise have spider veins, and I’m extremely active so why do I have them?

Please give me answers!
Thank you

rob answers:

I don’t know what the marks on your butt are.

The spider veins, however, I do know about. Whether or not you exercise doesn’t matter, here. Since your legs are lower than your heart, blood flows down into them. The blood vessels in your legs have little pumps that are designed to push excess blood back out into your blood stream. If you spend a lot of time on your feet, or if it’s in your genes, those pumps fail, and the blood vessels get so full that they swell up, causing spider veins. It has nothing to do with being fat. Spider veins are extremely common in women who have active jobs and spend most of the day on their feet. In fact, you’d probably be less likely to get them if you spent all day laying in bed.

They’re pretty much there permanently, unless you get medical treatment to remove them. And since you already know you are prone to spider veins, you are at a greater risk of developing varicose veins (which are bigger and painful) in the future. In order to prevent spider veins and varicose veins, you can wear compression hosiery or compression socks. These are basically knee-high or higher and very tight, to prevent extra blood from pooling in your legs in the future.

Susan asks…

Tattoos and Spider Veins?

I want to get two fairly large (covering the whole top of my foot) tattoos. I have several spider veins (little veins, not the big vericose ones) in my legs and feet. Do you think this would affect my tattoo at all? If the tattoo artist is a reputable guy (he is known to be one of the best in our state) do you think he will have any problem tattooing over them? The actual tops of my feet do not have any spider veins (this is the main part that will be tattooed). I am not diabetic (I have already checked) so that’s not an issue. I’m looking for someone who has had kind of a similar situation and I’d like to see pictures of how their tattoos turned out. Thanks for your help!

rob answers:

Your best bet would be to go to a tattoo place or two and show them and ask them what they think. They will know better then anyone what can and can’t or should and shouldn’t be tattooed

Daniel asks…

I’m 14 and have small thin veins on my legs???!!!?

Well I’m only 14 and I am a bit overweight. I’ve recently started seeing some very faint thin veins on the back of my legs and I just saw one on the front today. Is this normal. Will they get worse??? How can I get rid of them or prevent more? IDK if they’re varicose veins or spider veins because the pictures I’ve seen are FAR more severe. Could weight be a factor?

rob answers:

If they are tiny and red, then you have some broken capillaries aka spider veins. Bad circulation can run in the family or can be due to being overweight.
Whatever you do, DO NOT CROSS YOUR LEGS all the time when sitting down! It is very lady-like, but very bad for your circulation in your legs.
You can look into compression stockings aka TED hose http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compression_stockings.
Try elevating your legs whenever at home.
If your feet are cold, you may already have bad circulation. Palpate your pedal pulses to see if they are equal, strong and warm. Http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQIiB51IWMU
and try exercising, they WILL GET WORSE!

Your Questions About Spider Veins On Stomach

Daniel asks…

What can I do to get rid of blue/spider veins?

I’m starting to get big blue veins and spider veins on my stomach and legs. My skin is becoming thinner and the veins are starting to surface, though they are not bulging out like varicose veins. I don’t wear tight clothes and my age doesn’t seem like it could be a factor (I’m only 17) I’ve stayed the same weight and have even lost a couple of pounds from exercise and stretching. I have always eaten relatively healthy so why is this happening? Is there a way to stop/prevent this?

rob answers:

Walk moderately. Gentle exercise improves circulation and speeds recovery.

Consult a board-certified dermatologic surgeon. Let them examine your spider veins. Discuss treatment options.

Have cool showers instead of hot ones as heat dilates the blood vessels making them more conspicuous. Reduce prolonged exposure in the sun and remember to wear sunscreen.

Apply concealer with a latex sponge and foundation cream with powder to temporarily fix spider veins. For those on your legs and other body parts, use an opaque cream-based product and setting powder available in department stores.

Good luck

Spider veins on my boobs? How do i get rid of them?

I have spider veins on my boobs around the nipple area and toward the lower portions of my boobs. What causes them? How do I get rid of them?

I often sleep on my stomach. Could this cause it?

rob answers:

You may be able to have CO2 laser treatments to diminish them. They are hereditary. Nothing you do sleeping is going to make them more or less noticeable. I’m sure any one in your life will not find them a problem.

Nancy asks…

missed my period and I have spider veins on my lower abdomen and on the back of my legs…am I pregnant?

Does Yasmin cause spider veins???

i was on Yasmin for 3 months and it was the best pill i ever used. The problem is that i now have spider veins all over.I did have a few on my thighs prior to starting but they had been there for a couple years and had not worsened one bit.Right after stopping yasmin veins exploded everywhere, my legs, face, stomach etc.I also now have bad cramps in my legs that wont go away. Its been 6 months since ive been off and the syptoms have not subsided only worsened. My doctor assures me that its not the estrogen that caused this its the potassium.I always thought potassium eleviated cramping in legs.I want to start back on Yasmin but am afraid that my veins will get worse…

rob answers:

I took Yasmin for over a year and I never had any problems with spider veins. Maybe you should consult with your doctor and try another form of birth control pill if this problem continue to persist.

Can spider veins occur in early pregnancy?

I’ve been developing these spider veins on my thighs!! I’m a week late took a test 3 days ago –!! Still no period and still have symptoms of pregnancy! I’m going to retest next week but i’m wondering if any ladies have experienced this in early pregnancy?

rob answers:

I’m about 4 months along & I haven’t experienced this, but according to “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” it actually can happen in early pregnancy.

It’s caused by the pregnancy hormones & the increase in blood circulation. It can be hereditary.

John asks…

How do you get rid of spider veins after pregnancy?

rob answers:

Laser should work on small purplish veins as long as your skin tone isn’t too dark (or you have a tan). Sclerotherapy (saline injections) is another option if you are not a good candidate for laser treatments.

The attached site has more information.

Good luck.

Does Haemeroid cream get rid of spider veins?

I’ve been toild that haemeroid cream will reduce/ get rid of spider veins on my legs? Is this true???

rob answers:

You’re stuck w/the varicose veins which are usually caused by genetics, hormones, and poor health.
Forget the “old wives tales”. Buy good shoes, use support hose if you work on your feet, lose weight if your BMI is greater than 25, quit crossing your legs, and talk to your doctor if you smoke and use birth control.

Your Questions About Spider Veins

Chris asks…

spider veins?

Are there any natural options to get rid of unsightly spider veins? Laser and all is definitely a nono.

rob answers:

Sclerotherapy is a medical procedure used to eliminate varicose veins and “spider veins.” Sclerotherapy involves an injection of a solution (such as sodium chloride, a salt solution) directly into the vein.
The solution irritates the lining of the blood vessel, causing it to swell and stick together, and the blood to clot. Over time, the vessel turns into scar tissue that fades from view. Sclerotherapy is a well-proven procedure and has been in use since the 1930s.

Thomas asks…

Spider veins?

I have bluish-purpleish veins on my legs…… just 2 of them….. and about 3 inches long……also i have some small veins kinda like that too but they aren’t like right by the bigger ones…… what are they? are they spider veins? or what? they don’t bother me at all and i’ve had them for a while…… but the skin right above them is thin…… and they are on my upper thigh…. so what are they? and should i go see a doctor

rob answers:

They are probably just spider veins, if you are worried about them you should see a doctor though. Spider veins are not dangerous and can be brought on by hormones. There are many cosmetic procedures that can be done to remove them from laser to injections, unfortunately none of these methods are cheap. If its just a couple small veins I wouldn’t worry about it.

How can I cover spider veins and pimples?

I have bad spider veins all over my cheeks and these huge massive pimples that are red and have lots of pressure. I also have a medium amount of freckles which I love! I want to know if there are any ways to get rid of these painful pimples and the second part of my question is if there are any “techniques” (if you may) to cover up my pimples and spider veins but not my freckles? Thanks!

I would like to know this exact same thing! I hate my pimples and stuff but dont want to cover my freckles

Nancy asks…

How does sclerotherapy work with small spider veins?

I watched a video where solution was injected into larger spider veins but what if they are really tiny. I have small clusters of veins so does the doctor inject the area?? How much area does one injection cover?? Any information about sclerotherapy would be appreciated.

rob answers:

Yes, the sclerosing agent is injected into the tiny spider veins, and generally works well. I generally find that one “mother lode” injection site will cover an area about the size of my fist, before another injection area is needed. There are differing solutions available, and the results do differ depending upon both the agent used and the doctor injecting the material.

Your Questions About Spider Veins During Pregnancy

Lizzie asks…

Has anyone ever had spider or vericose veins during pregnancy?

I’m 28 weeks pregnant and noticed what seems like spider veins on the back of my leg behind my knee. They are like a purple and appear web like in 2 spots but then I have a real long dark purple vein going into them. The area is discolored and it almost looks bruised in one spot. I have no other pain or discomfort.

rob answers:

Yep, I have a few on my legs and are slowly getting darker

Paul asks…

Spider veins during pregnancy?

Hi, I am 16 weeks pregnant and I have started to have spider veins on my breast, more on my left on though. Is this normal, and will they get worse? Also, I am getting a rash for the second time in a month, do you think it could just be an allergic reaction, or something serious? They are like small red, dry, itchy patches… I am going to call my Dr. soon, but I just wanted some opinions…. Thanks everyone =)
The rash is on my chest and arms, but spreads to my stomach, last time the rash was on my face, neck, all over besides my legs…
I am pretty sure they are spider veins because I know what they look like….

rob answers:

Those aren’t spider veins on your chest, it’s just your regular veins showing up more because your blood volume has increased twofold since you’ve been pregnant. Mine showed up more on one side too. It’s all normal :)

As for the rash, where is it showing up at?

Congrats on your pregnancy!

George asks…

varicose/ spider veins during pregnancy?!?

im 20 weeks preg and i just noticed that on my left leg there is a faded turquoise and faded purple vein about 3 maybe 4 inches long on my inner calf. could this be a varicose/ spider vein? im 18, if that matters and it definately hasnt been there very long…. my mom has ‘em pretty bad but she is in her 50′s. if it is, is there anything i can do to prevent them?

rob answers:

What you explain could be, but unless you get pain from it, I wouldnt worry. The fact your mother got them, Im afraid is the reason you could be more likely to get them. Theres nothing you can do to prevent them, some people say to put your legs up a lot and to aviod crossing your legs, so you could give that a try (wouldnt hurt) but for me, I never got them yet I did cross my legs alot and my mother and grandmother both had operations to remove their varicose veins.

Spider veins and Varicose veins are acutally quite different things, spider veins are more of a reddy colour and spread out in different directions where varicose veins usally look like lumpy swollen veins.

You might find you wont get anymore than what youve got also. I hope that is it.
The other thing it could be, is just an everyday run of the mill stretch mark, some women (me included) get them on the back of my knees and arm when pregnant, just like I would on my tummy, if you havent gained too much weight though, its probably not them.

Goodluck

Jenny asks…

Spider Veins and Pregnancy?

Any home remedies to reduce or at least try and control spider veins during pregnancy ??
Fourth pregnancy

rob answers:

Family genetics & weight gain usually predisposes you to spider veins. Varicose veins, which are usually found in the legs and genital area, occur when blood pools in veins enlarged by the hormones of pregnancy. Varicose veins often disappear after pregnancy, but you can lessen them by:
*avoiding standing or sitting for long periods of time
*wearing loose-fitting clothing
*wearing support hose
*elevating your feet when you sit

Sandra asks…

Anyone wear compression pantyhose during pregnancy to prevent spider veins?

Genetically I am doomed to get spider veins. I have never seen my mom wear shorts, and I don’t want to be like that. I am 1 month into my third pregnancy and am starting to get those lovely little purple veins on my legs. I know that if I don’t do something quick they are going to get darker. I know all about exercise, elevating your feet, bla, bla, bla. Even if I do all of that I am doomed genetically (I can probably reduce the amount I get by doing all of that stuff, but not stop them all). So has anyone had luck with those compression support pantyhose that claim to prevent spider veins? If so, which ones are the best? There are many online stores with different prices. Are the $83 ones better than the $25 ones? Do they even help?

rob answers:

The $25.00 are probably just as good as the richie fritzy priced ones. Do not forget the vitamin E oil on your “feeders” and tummy to stop the stretch marks. I remembered my belly, forgot the milk-makers. I don’t have to tell you where I got the stretch marks!

Your Questions About Spider Veins On Face

Charles asks…

does blue light effect spider veins of face?

i want to have my teeth whitened and they use blue light, i have spider veins and acne on my face around my mouth. will the blue ligh make it worse?

rob answers:

No..you need regular laser (red) to take that stuff off….(it actually kills the spider vein and it’s absorbed by the body.)

But if you have Lupus or another auto immune condition that keeps you out of the sun, don’t have blue lights on your face or your gums. (it WILL (since it’s UV) burn you.

Betty asks…

What causes constant redness of the face, broken blood vessels on the face, Spider veins on the face ?

rob answers:

The redness could be rosacia (sp??) but alcohol can cause it to…

Spider veins on face and legs?

I’m only 14 but have had spider veins on my face (near my mouth) and on the tops of my legs for a while now, is there something wrong with me, or will it just be something else?

It’s ok sweetie, most people have them. Don’t worry. Nothing wrong at all.

Thomas asks…

how can i get rid of spider veins on my face?

im only 14 years old and i have this pretty noticeable spot of spider veins right underneath my left eye. is there i way i can get rid of it?

rob answers:

They give a saline shot to get rid of spider veins, you have to see a doctor for that.

Robert asks…

What is a cheap way to get rid of small spider veins on your face and chest?

I know injections can be done, but let’s be realistic… I’m a college student I can’t afford that. Are there any lotions that can help lessen how much they are visible? I have two on my face and a couple of small ones on my chest, they are all red and easily visible.

rob answers:

You can buy a lotion self tanner. It slwoly deepens your skin tone with daily use and it will cover your vens in about a week. The only condition is that you have to use it forever now, or at least until you can afford injections. Bottles cost 5-7 dollars in any drug store and a bottle lasts about a month and a half, so you’d end up paying 50 bucks a year.

Donna asks…

Iv got spider veins on my nose?

I’m 18 and iv got one on the tip of my nose and another on the side. I don’t drink so why do I have them? I heard laser can get rid of them but how much does it cost? Iv had it for a while and I can only cover it with consealer. The one on the side isn’t noticeable without makeup but the one on the tip is really ugly :-(

rob answers:

I had some spider veins under my eye and got them removed at a local beauty salon by something called “diathermy” which I think has a different name sometimes. It can be used to remove skin tags as well. Make sure you don’t get ripped off, as this is not an expensive treatment. I had a ten minute treatment where the beautician removed all my skin tags, an the facial red veins, and it cost me £60.

Thomas asks…

how could i get rid of the spider veins on my nose?

they are open capillaries

rob answers:

If you do a search for a solution to your problem online you will no doubt come across many miracle cures, creams, and “all natural herbal supplements” that will claim to be able to fix your problem. But please adhere to my advice. Do not waste your money on any of those products, none of them work. I have had more then a few clients with this issue and i’m sorry to say that the only actual way of fixing this issue is surgery. Did not mean to burst your bubble, i know you were looking for a simpler solution but I rather you know this off the bat then going on and searching aimlessly.

Paul asks…

Spider Veins on my Nose! Help?

Apparently I’ve inherited my mom’s tiny spider veins on her nose (and mine now) that make our skin just on our nose look red and blotchy constantly.
I’m 14 , and I have to wear face powder over it because it is so distracting. I can’t leave home without it.

I was wondering if there was a reputable Vitamin K cream (because Vitamin K corrects this, I researched! :D ) that I could use? I’d prefer if you have had the same problem, or if not, help me out anyways ]: It’s a pain in the butt.

rob answers:

If it were my nose and my spider veins, I would go to a dermatologist and ask what is the “best” cream. They will then probably give you a prescription that will work better than over-the-counter K-cream.

First I would call their office and try to get a k-creme brand recommendation over the phone, since you already have a diagnosis. It may not work, but it’s worth a try.

Your Questions About Spider Veins Causes

Sharon asks…

What causes spider veins and can you get rid of them?

I’ve always small little veins on my legs, barely even noticeable unless I point them out. Recently I’ve been getting a lot of sun and have gotten tanner and have noticed them on my chest as well. Does the sun cause them or are they just more noticeable now that I’m getting darker?

Is there any way to get rid of them without getting surgery or injections?

rob answers:

There is a cream you cna get. I saw it at Capers

James asks…

What causes spider veins? And is there anything i can do to fade/get rid of them? creams etc?

Im 19 and have a few surface visible veins on my left leg only…I’m very lazy is it lack of exercise? Crossing my legs? I’m not over weight i have a normal BMI. How do i get rid of them naturally?

rob answers:

Spider Veins are a version of Varicose Veins. The are usually blue or red. The cause may be that you have weak or damaged valves of your veins. They may also be caused by the backup of blood. Spider Veins are rarely a health problem, but the do cause uncomfortable feelings wherever they are. They are usually found in the region of the leg. Spider Veins and Varicose Veins both can be treated. This would help relieve all aches and uncomfortable feelings you are getting, increase your appearances, and prevent further complications. Compression Stockings would definitely help get rid of these. There are 3 different kinds of Compression Stockings. They are Support Pantyhose, which will be the least amount of pressure on your legs. They provide pressure all over though, and not where it is needed the most. There are over the counter gradient hose, which offer you a little bit more pressure. And last, prescription strength gradient compression hose, which would offer the most amount of pressure on the veins. These are all helpful ways, and i hope that this helps you relieve your ways of getting rid of them.

David asks…

What causes spider veins at a young age?

Could it be circulation problems?
Oh, I see. I don’t get a lot of vitamins. My mother told me that. I also sit on my legs a great deal. Thank you for your help.

rob answers:

Spider veins can happen at any age. I happens to occur in older people because of their vascular systems not as perky as younger ones. Yes, poor circulation can cause spider veins regardless. Avoid sitting long periods of times as well as make sure you are healthy. Some people low in certain vitamins will get this.

Linda asks…

What causes spider veins to appear on the legs?

rob answers:

There are a number of causes for these. Mine appeared during hormonal changes. Here is a good link giving information.
Good luck

Charles asks…

What causes spider veins on legs?

Since I’m pregnant, they say I’m prone to having varicose veins, is it true? I want to know what causes it so I can avoid it.

rob answers:

Yes it is true.

From WebMD

“What causes varicose veins?
Varicose veins are caused by weakened valves and veins in your legs. Normally, one-way valves in your veins keep blood flowing from your legs up toward your heart. When these valves do not work as they should, blood collects in your legs, and pressure builds up. The veins become weak, large, and twisted.

Varicose veins often run in families. Aging also increases your risk.

Being overweight or pregnant or having a job where you must stand for long periods of time increases pressure on leg veins. This can lead to varicose veins.”

Sharon talks about her Spider Vein Treatment – Long

For more information visit our website at www.ctveindocs.com Spider veins are tiny, very superficial veins that occur in clusters or separately. They can become unsightly and most numerous in the thighs and ankles. The cause of spider veins has been attributed to heredity, hormonal influences, trauma and venous reflux. Treatment of spider veins includes sclerotherapy and or topical laser treatments, depending upon the location of the spider veins and their size. In addition, if reflux is found in larger veins in the superficial venous system in the region of the spider veins, then treatment of the reflux can aid in keeping the spider veins from coming back after they have been treated.
