Varicose Veins NYC – NYC Varicose Veins – (212)-644-9494

varicoseveinsnyc.blogspot.com (212)-644-9494 Varicose veins are gnarled, enlarged veins. Any vein may become varicose, but the veins most commonly affected are those in your legs and feet. That’s because standing and walking upright increases the pressure in the veins of your lower body. For many people, varicose veins and spider veins — a common, mild variation of varicose veins — are simply a cosmetic concern. For other people, varicose veins can cause aching pain and discomfort. Sometimes varicose veins lead to more-serious problems. Varicose veins may also signal a higher risk of other circulatory problems. Treatment may involve self-care measures or procedures by your doctor to close or remove veins. Treatment for varicose veins are tailored for each patient depending on general health, age and the severity of the condition. We have experience in all types of varicose vein treatment, ranging from minimally-invasive to complex surgical procedures. Treatment options include sclerotherapy, laser surgery, endovenous thermal ablation (radiofrequency [VNUS] or laser), surgical vein stripping, endoscopic perforator vein surgery and other procedures. Patients may receive a combination of treatments, and most patients also use self-care therapies such as compression stockings.

Offices throughout Tampa Bay www.MountcastleVeinCenters.com When you see varicose veins on your skin there is a more serious problem deeper in your leg. Called venous valvular insufficiency in the medical field it is the failure of the valves in the veins. Simply put, your veins have valves in them which permit blood to flow in only one direction, toward the heart. While walking these valves cause the blood to move upward and return for another cycle through the body. When these valves fail the blood flows down the leg causing aching tired legs, leg cramps at night, swollen ankles, spider veins, and varicose veins. These are only some of the symptoms that can occur when vein valves fail. This can easily be checked with an ultrasound to see if there is a problem with the flow of blood in your legs. Varicose Vein laser treatments offered at Mountcastle Vein Centers in Tampa Bay are very non evasive and practically pain free. Watch full video at www.varicoseveinprocedure.com and learn about varicose vein procedures. It might be best to begin a discussion of modern (post year 2001) vein treatment by pointing out what it is NOT: Not surgical! Vein procedures are no longer surgical. The new procedures require: No pain. No scars. No recovery period. No hospitalization. No general anesthesia. No more “Vein Stripping” This old fashioned and much feared operation performed by vascular surgeons is no longer necessary or recommended. Now we simply start an IV in the failed vein and gently close it from the inside with laser. No more “Surgical Phlebectomy” Using incisions to remove surface veins is now old fashioned and unnecessary, it has been replaced by painless micro-phlebectomy through needle holes. No more “Saline Sclerotherapy” Saline hurts and often leaves marks, it belongs in the past, the new sclerosing solution does not hurt and is very effective. Not rocket science! Vein disease is not complicated: The cause of all problems with veins in the legs is simply failed valves. Genetics (80%), hormones of pregnancy, occupations requiring prolonged standing, injuries, clots, and some extreme sports can damage vein valves, one way ‘check’ valves with delicate leaflets. Failed, ‘incompetent’, vein valves can no longer support the weight of the column of blood from above. When you are standing gravity then causes increased pressure in the veins below failed valves. This pressure causes the veins below

                Varicose Veins ; Simplified

What are Varicose Veins ? Varicose veins are veins that have become dilated, enlarged and tortuous. The term commonly refers to the veins on the leg, although varicose veins can occur elsewhere. In the legs, there are basically two systems of veins: one under the skin — Superficial; and the other – Deep Venous System. Blood flow in the veins is always towards the heart as against that in the arteries wherein it is away from the heart. In the legs blood flow in all positions — standing , walking ..and lying down is towards the heart. It is from the foot upwards. This is due to the action of the calf muscles and the vein valves . These valves prevent blood from flowing backwards (retrograde). In certain situations, the valves are damaged. Raised pressure classically during pregnancy in the females , infections, and prolonged standing like in policemen, teachers,.. amongst others. In such a situation, the blood flow in the veins becomes retrograde — from above downwards. The veins under the skin then become dilated. With dilation, the valves are made even more non-compliant and subsquently all the valves in the superficial vein may allow reversal of flow. When veins become varicose, the leaflets of the valves no longer meet properly, and the valves do not work. This allows blood to flow backwards and they enlarge even more. The classical picture of varicose veins then develops. What are the symptoms of Varicose Veins ? • Aching, heavy legs (often worse at night and after

                Varicose and Spider Vein Treatment

At the Vein Therapy by Aesthetic Medicine we treat both Varicose Veins and Spider Veins. Varicose veins are not always a cosmetic issue. Now there is a new solution covered by most insurance companies. The VNUS Closure procedure is a clinically proven minimally invasive treatment for varicose veins. With mild discomfort and minimal down time, this procedure has virtually replaced the older invasive vein stripping procedures. Smaller veins in the legs called spider veins can be treated by injecting them with a “sclerosing” solution which causes them to collapse or by treating them with radio-frequency. The veins are then gradually absorbed and disappear. Most insurance companies do not pay for removal of the spider veins. Please call today for a free consult 503.697.9777.
